BSA’s Kate Goodloe Discusses Likelihood of New Schrems Decision Following Finalization of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework

BSA | The Software Alliance Managing Director, Policy Kate Goodloe discusses how the new transatlantic data deal means there will not be a need for changes to Section 702.
Capitol Hill’s relative disinterest in protecting the transatlantic data deal may be due to a lack of pressure from the tech lobby. While U.S. companies stand to lose billions of dollars if Schrems sinks another agreement, Kate Goodloe, managing director at BSA-The Software Alliance, suggested the new deal is airtight and changes to Section 702 likely won’t be needed. The software lobby still hasn’t taken a position on Section 702 reform, even as Capitol Hill begins to drill down ahead of the December sunset.
