BSA Urges Congress to Pass Updated Trade Promotion Authority Legislation in Joint Letter
WASHINGTON, DC — February 12, 2015 —
BSA | The Software Alliance, in partnership with five leading trade associations that represent hundreds of global technology and Internet companies, today sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to swiftly pass updated Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation – further recognizing today’s digital economy and the growing importance of the technology and Internet sectors.
“Trade Promotion Authority looks to the future, encourages continued innovation and guards against new forms of digital protectionism,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “This letter should send a clear message from the technology community that passing an updated TPA bill is critically important for ensuring our trade policy is ready for the 21st century, and ultimately for growing the economy and creating jobs.”
The joint letter is also signed by Computer and Communications Industry Association, Consumer Electronics Association, Internet Association, Information Technology Industry Council, Semiconductor Industry Association, Silicon Valley Leadership Group and TechNet.
