BSA | The Software Alliance Senior Vice President of Global Policy Aaron Cooper expresses concern over policymakers introducing the new restrictions in the Executive Order on cross-border data transfers.
“Placing restrictions on cross-border data transfers risks normalizing practices that U.S. adversaries use for other purposes,” said Aaron Cooper, senior vice president of global policy at the Software Alliance, a trade group representing software companies, in an email. “The cross-border exchange of data and information is a cornerstone of U.S. leadership in the global economy, and policymakers worldwide should exercise caution before introducing restrictions that could have a wide-ranging impact across different industries,” he added.
