BSA Applauds Hatch Reintroduction of Immigration Innovation Act

WASHINGTON, DC — January 13, 2015 —

BSA | The Software Alliance today commended Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) for reintroducing the bipartisan Immigration Innovation Act (known as “I-Squared”) to help US companies recruit and retain talented foreign-born scientists and engineers while improving STEM education in US schools.

“I commend Sen. Hatch and the bipartisan co-sponsors of this important legislation, including Sens. Klobuchar, Rubio, Coons, Flake and Blumenthal,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “BSA members are among the world’s most innovative companies. They employ hundreds of thousands of US workers. But one of the greatest challenges they face is finding and retaining enough highly-skilled scientists and engineers. This legislation will help bridge that gap by increasing the availability of H-1B visas while improving STEM education in US schools and encouraging more young people to pursue careers in STEM fields. We look forward to working with Sen. Hatch and his colleagues to advance this urgently needed legislation.”
