Key Tech Group, Other Industries Call for Major Reworking of Commerce ICT Security Rule

A cascade of industry comments flowed into the Commerce Department late last week urging officials to hold off on finalizing an information and communications technology supply-chain rule that tech, software, and telecom groups see as unworkable and ineffective in its current form.

The Information Technology Industry Council, USTelecom, the US Chamber of Commerce, BSA | The Software Alliance and IBM were among the groups and companies raising extensive concerns about a proposed Commerce rule designed to shore up ICT security.
