BSA Applauds Supreme Court DACA Decision, Urges Congressional Action
WASHINGTON – June 18, 2020 – The Supreme Court today ruled against the administration’s attempt to immediately end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. BSA | The Software Alliance applauds this important step forward and urges Congress to take action to reinstate DACA protections and make them permanent.
“BSA and our member companies strongly support DREAMers and the DACA program. Immigrants, including DREAMers, make America strong, resilient, and innovative,” said Victoria Espinel, President and CEO of BSA | The Software Alliance. “Today’s decision, although extremely important, is only one part of the broader discussion around DACA. We hope Congress will act swiftly to promote comprehensive, responsible immigration policy.”
In 2019, BSA joined more than 140 associations and companies in an amicus brief to the Supreme Court reaffirming support for DACA and its beneficiaries, the DREAMers. Read more about BSA’s immigration and workforce policy recommendations here.
